Subject: RE: Winter feeding

SW Wisconsin
Thing is I’ve got a couple hundred tons of corn silage, I just need about 40 tons of dry cow hay to keep my dry cows and heifers from getting too fat, and about 40 tons of alfalfa to get some protein for my milking cows. Not ridiculous quantities, and I’ve even got a little cash to pay for it, I just can’t afford paying to haul dry cow hay hundreds of miles and local prices dropped hard a couple weeks ago, so the guys who have hay to sell are holding on to it waiting for the price to come back.

Edit: forgot to add that I really appreciate the offer of silage. If you’ve got extra I’m sure you’ll have no problem finding guys to pay a decent price for it.
