Subject: RE: Broth of the bankrupt

Fayette Co, Iowa
Im a STO … And I raise my own replacement heifers.. Nothing fancy, but im NOT going to go out and pay 1,500 to 2,500 for a commercial bred heifer.. So I figure over the next 4 years starting last yr, I will start culling out older cows (10 plus yrs)... And bring my own replacement into the picture.. Right or wrong.. Ive got some good solid cows.. Fatten my own cattle out to market.. Ive seen 71 cent fats when (I) started and ive top the sale barn a few yrs back when it hit 161.25.. still have the sale barn receipt.. Again a small time operator 54 cows, some bred heifers. As a 4th generation cattle and grain farmer.. My grandpa told me as he was dying at Mayo clinic.. He said if your going to raise cattle "your either in or your out" I said meaning what.... He said the guy that tries to buy low and sell high to beat the market will fail more times than not in the cattle aspect... So take the highs with the lows, and hope it averages out over your lifetime...
