A little further on this - - - got the idea from What's the future of dairy looking like? by W250-CTD .
Where are we headed?
Owned by the processor (even if indirectly) and working bigger scale or selling direct and smaller. What say you?
For sure.
Comsolidation of equipment dealers and data management by computers allows everything to be controlled from the top.
Govt ‘helps out’ by coming late to the party with a few carrots and whole shelf full of regulations that pushes the tipping point to big even faster, only something really big can manage the paperwork and legal complexity of the govt overseeing everything.
The Ag suppliers are all consolidating into one fertilizer, 2 machinery, 3 seed companies, etc....
Any other business has been consolidated into 3 or so companies across the country in any industry here, with a few specialty sideline tiny companies in the same field.
Poultry and hogs are about there.
Dairy is getting there fast.
Cattle and land won’t be far behind.
If you own a little land you can either rent to the Bigs, or play the nitche market game.
If you are renting most of your land, where you gonna go what you gonna do?
