The experimental silos don't leak fluid, but the fermentation process produces gas that volatizes. Fermentation is a biological process that consumes energy (sugar and starch) and produces acids as the byproducts. There is no avoiding a baseline level of loss. Good management seeks to minimize additional loss; it can never eliminate it entirely. Anything under ten percent is pretty good. | |
