West Manchester Ohio | I’m not sure on the variety of triticale. Seed was scarce and I took what I could find. I intended to cut sooner but of course Mother Nature had other ideas. I don’t recall any extreme weather prior to cutting other than being wet. It was very course and stemmy and lost almost all of its color at baling time. Coming out of the plastic to feed it looks like wet straw. So to Garvos point about the way it looks, it doesn’t look good. On the positive side I planted corn in this field on June 1st to 105 day corn, and came off 150bu/ac. at 17% moisture. I’ll post a picture of what it looks like after the plastic is off. | |
