Wallis, TX | Well,,, as of 18 Deere is the only one making them, as least in the USA and probably the world. (I have heard rumors the China reverse engineered the JD).
As to how they work. Best to google some pics and some older owners manuals. But here is an attempt. Spindles (barbed spikes) spin and wrap up the seed cotton. The cotton is removed by a rotating lugged disk (doffer) that is spinning faster than the spindle so, it basically unwraps the cotton. After that, it’s sucked up and put in a round baler.
