In the last 40 years I have seen two turkeys flying in Iowa.

Most of the time here they’d run around big bushy trees and then disappear to where I couldn’t see them take off. Finally spotted a big hen fly right over a ranch’s high fence and way off onto a different ranch and into the brush. It was surprising to see it fly that far.
