western iowa,by Denison
the discounts really change fast-I have seen $20 spread at some sales-feeders are getting more picky-
we have had weaned cattle and non weaned-weigh ups at the sale will make or break you on the buying end-along with 1,000 other things

know a lot of cow guys that wean that have very little problems-usually they have two rounds of shots and on second round they do it about 4 weeks before weaning-lot of them calves smoke weight on and more then pays to wean

modified live shots with pasturalia shot-hard on the calves but being on mom they get thru it
there was a set of calves yesterday that had no shots and off pile of money-and one set that just had a spring blackleg shot -off on price to

and then everyones work load is different-I only start 14-1500 head of calves a year-I'm sure that other people start tons more and have less problems -I still have problems -just different ones on different groups-

Sounds like you have a gift on starting calves 5 head
