Texas/New Mexico Stateline | 75 years of fire suppression and restrictions on logging has allowed a huge increase in fuel loads below the canopy in these forests.
Now they are paying the price. Forests either need to be harvested and thinned, or allowed to burn on a 10-20 year cycle to remove the brush, dead falls, and undergrowth. Limiting the fuel load and keeping the fires from being 100x hotter. Like they are now.
