nw oh | Rumors have been swirling for quite some time that JBS is developing a contract on Holsteins that gives a premium for a certain carcass weight something in the 800 to 860 range. Smaller premium 30# each side then deducts at the normal -700# and +1000#. Of course the devil is in the details of where they start with basis as far as it being a premium or not. Was supposed to be ready to start contracts for January of 2020 but that has not happened yet.
I think it is an interesting concept and would benefit feeders that can get desired marbling at lower weights and are willing to put in time sorting a grouping loads of fats. | |
