I believe fat price would WAY more than make up for the lost profit on the extra pounds forfeited... IMHO the only way this is going to happen is if the packers start paying a premium for lighter, less fat, cattle. That's not likely to happen either... However the packers might find those slightly lighter cattle more profitable for themselves also...interesting thought. |
