North Central Illinois | I planted creeping root alfalfa in '16 and '17. Had been using standard types before that. So far I really haven't noticed much difference with the creeping alfalfa. Orchardgrass and improved tall fescue. Cattle really don't like the fescue much in the summer, but it really grows well late into the fall and they eat it pretty good this time of year. I put a little red clover in the mix too. That helps add tonnage in the first 1-2 years. | |
