I’m needing to add a little energy to my brewers grain, I have shell corn. Question is will these cows get the same usage out of whole corn as they will if it’s been ran through a mill? These are lactating cows with 200 lb calves at their side. How many pounds should I add? Extension agent says 15 lbs of brewers with 20 lb mixed grass hay per day.

Get a feed test done on the hay.
If you get a tdn say over 58.5 with adf under 37/8 and a NDF under 42/4 - - -
I would be feeding them the hay they clean up and your brewers byproduct and you might even get fat cows.

The big kicker is the quality of your hay.
What you don't measure you just don't know what it does in your ration!
