This is what I added onto mine. Supposedly, don’t have to have it in contact with waterline for it to work.

For heat tape to work well, needs to be wrapped or tied to water line I think. That’s what I did in a Mirafount I fought for a couple years with the lightbulb fix.

Should be able to lift complete top off, peel off old heater and replace....probably a better job for a warm day though.

Not an expert on these, but pestered these guys with lots of questions before I got one, so if it could be asked, I probably did. Seemed too good to be for no more power than it uses. Will see if it stays thawed. I can already see it doesn’t stay as clean in the tank as I had been led to believe...that or goat slobbers are just that much more nasty and your run of the mill livestock.
