| New Idea 5408 disc mower. I had seen a couple of these mowers run before I bought mine. Was cutting hay with a Ford 501 mower. It was 100 degrees and it was choking up several times per round. When I got home I told my dad I would never hook to that mower ever again. I went the following Saturday and bought what was the most impressive machine anyone around us had ever seen. People would park on the road and watch me cut just as fast as I could sit in the seat of a Massey 150. Cut hay for others in exchange for baling mine. That mower paved the way to a custom hay operation. | |
