 Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot | That is part of the problem with all of this green energy nonsense. Its really unpredictable, and so you have to oversize everything to be able to accept all of the power when the wind is blowing. Upgrade the grid, then build a bunch of peaking plants to take up the slack when the wind isn't blowing, or build a bunch of storage that consumes energy, etc. All for the sake of some yahoo in San Francisco being able to feel like he is saving the earth by buying 'green' power. I'm all for people buying green power, but lets let them pay for it if they want it. Lets not force all ratepayers to pay for the infastruture upgrades. A couple of large baseline plants would solve these problems a lot easier.
BTW, that 'low cost' Columbia R. power isn't so cheap anymore. The Bonneville Power Administration can market power too. | |
