| Indeed DC lines do help with synchronization or the lack between systems. At least one place in the US there is a very short DC line for just that purpose. But its a little easier to run extra high voltages long disntances at DC so that's another reason DC is used occasionally. Gets around capacitance, reduces corona, and gets around system to system synchronization. There's a tie like that from Washington state to southern California. Another short one long about the MN/ND border and some under bay or ocean DC here and there.
