The round bales would shed water, so didn't have to pick them up as soon as baled, even if it was going to rain. I still bale about a thousand bales that way most years. I can't get any of the old guys to pick them up though, so I strip graze them in the winter. You have to put some twine on them to make the baler work.
Many round Allis Chalmers bales make for happy cows.
