This is new crop apple season now so I doubt that you will find many imported apples. During the off season, like in summer, you sometimes find imported apples from the Southern Hemisphere from Chile and New Zealand where their apples are in season. I don't think you will see an apple from China.
Storage apples are often coated with an edible wax to make them last longer in storage.
