| I had a semi-major screw-up that was 100% my fault last spring. I am not going to share the details about what I did, because it was a completely bonehead move.
While I was sitting in the field contemplating how I was going to recover from this, I texted my brother about what had happened. Part of that text-
"I am so upset with myself right now, I can't even swear!"
Stuff like this just seems to happen. Leave a vehicle in the wrong place, and rub it with an implement or back into it with another vehicle. Turn a bit too sharp and peel a tire off a rim. Lose fuel caps because someone came up and talked to you while you were hanging up the fuel hose. Forget to close the trap on a hopper bottom. We have so many opportunities to make mistakes that cause physical damage. Sometimes, all we can do is send up a little prayer-
"Lord, please don't let me screw up out by the highway where everybody can see what dumb thing I have done!" | |
