Depends on if we will use them 1st year or 2nd. 10 to 12 in overlap on bales used 1st year, 8 to 10 in on bales held over. I would say we shoot for 50/50 feed to bedding. When the 1st cutting hay starts to run low, we will push more stalks witch is usually the dead of winter and feeding 2nd, 3rd and 4th cuttings.
