Oklahoma | Hadn't had time yet to answer. But yes I have thanked some of them. Had a Jr High Math teacher that later taught trig in high school which I took as an elective. He taught it like college classes. That class did more for me as far as math and being prepared for college than any "college prep" class could have. Taught lots of stuff with real world examples and would stop class for any type of a math problem that one of us brought in from home or work (I remember discussing fertilizer tank sizes and barn rafters at times). I went back and saw him spring of my freshman yr of college to get help with college trig. Asked him my question and how it could be applied in the real world and he looked at me and said "you will only need this the rest of this semester, I have never used it in the real world outside of teaching it to kids, it is worthless". I saw him a few years later also and it was always good to see him.
Had a couple other high school teachers that were really good. They have moved on and if I ever run into them, I owe them one. Others that were warm bodies, that I would like kick right square in . . . . nevermind.
Had one in college that I still see from time to time. I have thanked him as well. I grew to absolutely despize him in everyway in college but he never gave up on me and I hope I didn't give up on him (I graduated so I assume that counts as not giving up). Once I graduated I could see what he was pushing for but sometimes you just can't see the forest for the trees. I hope my kids can have some one like him and some of the other good ones I have had but for some reason I doubt they will.
