north central Oklahoma | Naw, Rich, I ain't too lazy to type. I did have that kind of teacher. Our small school had 4 main classrooms, 2 grades in each class 1&2, 3&4, on and on, and the highschool guys roamed around to the proper rooms, ie., science, math, etc.
Mr Aldrich was 7th and 8th grade teacher, basketball coach, grade school principal, a farmer, and on and on. That one man instilled in me more self respect, respect for others, never give up. Very strict man, disciplined beyond my scope at the time, but now I can appreciate it. I am sure he affected others the same way.
Rode motorcycles with his son, and it was one day while in his shed I discovered he was a regular Joe, Son dropped helmet on shed floor, face shield down. Dad jumps up from working on truck, "son, ya gotta take care of stuff, you can't see s%&t throught that if ya don't be more careful. At the time, I thought teachers don't cuss.
I had never seen a man that loved kids more than he did, and I don't mean like all these female teachers loving their kids today. He made an impression on me.
Never played golf with him though. | |
