Yes. I had a History teacher that was a pinko, Leftist, hippy, self-admitted Nam draft dodger that attempted to indoctrinate all of his students into his way of thinking - but was a GREAT teacher otherwise. He had a knack at getting through to all of the students. Some people can learn by reading and listening, others require a more hands-on approach and he taught each lesson both ways. Had a good number of friendly arguments with him regarding politics and he loved every minute of it. Buddy of mine and myself really set him off when we told him we were going to join the Posse Comitatus after graduation - we were joking but he literally hollered at us! LOL!!

Anyhow, I got word a couple of years ago that he was going to retire after that school year. I got the school district email directory out and sent him an email thanking him for a job well done and told him that he was the best teacher in the district. I also insisted that he remain a teacher until my daughters had all been through his classes, but he was in failing health so he retired anyhow.
