Sanilac Co. Michigan | Let me tell you a little something about university research and private funding from personal experience.
Way back when I was finishing up at MSU, I was working for a graduate student completing his doctoral thesis. This took place in the University Meats Lab in 1979 and centered around heat, color fixation and how that's influenced by various levels of sodium nitrite in the cure batch. The research grant was from Morton Salt and was given to prove that their salt made protein more soluble than the competing brands. Do that research and get your thesis research funded at the same time. It was a foregone conclusion as to what the protein solubility studies conclusion would be.
This wasn't an isolated instance. More often than not the conclusion is arrived at and the research back fills to support the intended conclusion. Its all about the money and to believe otherwise is the very height of naevity and self delusion.
