deep SW On. | As harvest progresses I am amazed at the number of new too nearly new equipment in the fields , you have too look really hard not to see late model combines or tractors & new wagons/grain carts..."here" land prices just keep increasing and there is a bunch of guys this fall on the road trying too rent/buy more land-Eventually returns & costs come to-gether , but right now either guys are really opimistic or just love big shiney equipment or have big egos to fill things are crazy.....Pat, on the hog side we in Ontario are still mainly farrow-finish family farms on modest scale....What somedya will bring sanity too farming again for a bit is when profits fall and guys can't buy new equipment every year & expand ,then its not fun anymore.....Cash grain integration is quite a way off....Its insane how returns & costs have little impact on what people do......As long as land values & machinery hold up guys can keep financing there future | |
