Ridgway, IL | It wiped out a confinement with just shy of 200 hd inside. The storm picked up the roof carried it 50-70’ and set it back down. When it set down fences and gates were destroyed. Most of the cattle actually escaped, only 1 got a direct injury. A broken leg, we had to euthanize. There were maybe a dozen or so trapped inside we cut out with saws.
Thankfully we have a little grow yard down the road that custom feeds for us some. We already had cattle there so we shipped most the cattle over there as we gathered them up. We had some sales on at the time and were able to get everything pretty well situated within 2-3 days. Of course it was the hottest week of the year and tasseling corn. More than half of our corn had the tops blown out of it, so harvest hasn’t been too exciting around here this fall.
