Well, I cant say it is the same here as this kind lady was from the city and I was in a city when the pickup died. But I do know what you mean. I took a drive into eastern oregon a few months ago just for a nice drive and took see a piece of equipment. I was a complete stranger to everyone on the road once I turned off the main highway. Near every pickup and car that I passed going to the other way, waved. It was like old times around here. Allmost like a trip back in time if you will. Made me feel happy to be there.

I try not to judge them based on their dwelling location, but rather their attitude. I get just as many nasty looks from country and farm folk as I do from city folk and viseversa. We get a lot of people breaking down in the driveway since we are on a main highway/truck route. I try to help some but I try to size up the situation first. If there's more than one person, I keep my distance or demand that the others stay in the car before I even consider loaning out the battery jumper or a funnel for the gas. As you may have figured I live in a heavily populated area.

It was just a nice break to have someone unselfish enough to offer a hand. Made my day.
