Custom planted 60 acres of seed production for a neighbor today. May have 60 acres of commercial corn to plant Wednesday. Also have 50 acres of milo ground almost dry enough. Have 4 fields totaling about 250 acres of soybeans that half each field is dry enough. If we can miss a rain the next day or two we can make a big dent in our planting this week. This is the difference between our neck of the woods and "the prairie" It is rare for a large chunk of land to be ready at once. Gramp's 200 acres has 40 acres that should be ready in a day or two, 40 that won't be ready for a week, and the rest ... well, depends on how high the Wabash gets. There is a flat 80 acres next to it has an irrigator with an electric pump. Had a wiring problem a couple years ago and the electrician had trouble fixing it because his hole (in the middle of the field, NOT in a low spot) kept seeping full of water.
