Montana | Feed companies have to carry insurance to cover any liability. We had a great man who owned a operated a local elevator, he bought screenings as he cleaned seed and sold them for, just enough to cover his costs. That worked great for many years until one, new guy , with little to no experience, decided to raise sheep and feed them the very inexpensive screenings. It worked great until lambing and the screenings he was feeding, had a lot of cow cockle seeds. The cow Cockle has a toxicity for sheep that none of us had ever seen, because he was feeding at such a high percentage of his ration. The very sad thing was that the nasty bugger sued our great elevator friend and killed that opportunity for everyone.
The world has a few nasty, ignorant jerks that can really make things hard for people doing what you are trying to do. | |
