Dirt lots always seem like a good idea in the summer but even then if you have to go to feed after a rain it's a mess. I have had one for 4 years and am taking the fence down this fall because i am tired of the mess. Depending on your location they might work but (here) I will keep pouring concrete and putting roof over it as the budget allows
