No different than:  PA  or SD or MA or AK or AL  or............  the list goes on.

You're right.. it's a big site.  If you want to critize him for using P.E.I., then we (Americans) shouldn't use state abbreviations either.  There are enough non-USA readers that would scratch their heads when they see:   PA..... SD... MA.... AK.... AL......

I think/ hope you get my point.

P.S. As mentioned above, P.E.I. is Prince Edward Island.  Yeah, I had to scratch my head once or twice, but I finally figured it out.
