Subject: Late season rotation


Driftless SW Wisconsin

This time of year I'm trying to use about every blade of grass to minimize the amount of hay fed.  Here we usually figure we will feed stored feeds from Nov 1 to about May 1.  With a killing freeze predicted for tonight it's looking like we'll be lucky to hold off feeding hay until Nov 1. 

This morning I gave both the heifer group and the older cow group more grass.  The older cow group really knows the drill. Even my grandson's pony was waiting for me to take up the old wire in this ladder system.  Here are some pics of the older cow group.
