You must have missed the original thread that stated how this was a constantly reoccurring problem. No one on here wants to go shooting up cattle when they get into their fields the first time. The OP stated he has talked to the owner of the cows that escape and nothing happens. He files police reports and nothing happens. He continues to take it up the ladder and nothing happens. How long would you allow a negligent neighbor's animals eat your paycheck before you stopped it. Would I shoot the first or even second time they got into my fields? No way. After numerous times, would I fuel up the backhoe and give the cows a lead enema? You bet.

Edit: I should also mention I have cattle. They are fenced in secure fences, and we have had times when a calf bolts through it. Last time it didn't do any damage to crops, but you can bet I bought everyone lunch that helped look/chase, as well as the family that ended up catching her in their pasture and penning it up for me later.
