Thumb of Michigan | The free air SnoTwisters as well as the fan cooled Trail Twisters were fast sleds. I was running (along with some other sleds) a 73 Polaris 340 Starfire in local ice or snow oval sprint races. And holding my own OK. Not much that I couldn't run with up to the 440 open class if I had it set up right. When the 76 liquid SnoTwisters came out, that all changed. For me and everyone else. The Mercs dominated not only in 76/77, but were extremely competitive in drag racing right up through the 80's. Mercury came out with this super sled, and pulled the plug on sled production after that year. | |
