I'm adding a bud box to my facilities as well. My quarry calls what you are describing 63s. I tell them to get them out of the pile with a lot of lime and it will pack down like concrete. 6" on top of geotextile fabric. Don't skimp on the rock and try to get by with 4. Good luck!
