| So how is that red silage cutter in the above pics any different than the old style stationary grinders we used to take ear corn and make a fine powdered flour with a few coaser cobs. Had to back up tractor making belt tight and HOPE it stayed on. Usually fell off a time or three per load. Table was 4' in the air and you had to scoop off the floor in back of alleyway and crib and carry every darn scoop full over to it and heave it up that high, easier when 6'+ than 4 foot tall. That JD old heavy iron thing never moved an inch till we got a IHC1150 on wheels. I wish I could recall how we ground the outside cribs and slat fence piles. I dont recall now.
BUT do recall having to scoop it all into the feed bin after scooping it into the grinder. I recall getting yelled at for not scooping right. The dirtiest job was always mine. Scooping to the ends of the wagon so you got a heap load all across it. Looked like the Pillsberry dough boy including your eyes and nose (and lungs) | |
