What you tell the new owner when I sell it is the same thing I always try to tell people - the truth. This is also why I want to replace it with a new axle, not one from a junkyard which may rust thru in a week or two. The failure appears to be from corrosion from the inside. If you look on the right side of the axle in the photo there appears to be some rust coming thru from the inside there also. Do I experct Ford to warrant the vehicle forever - certainly not. However this toi me is a major safety issue which could have caused an injury accident. n This is not a warranty issue. I would be pleased if they split the cost of the replacement if for no other reason than to get managements attention. A decent and respopnsible thing for Ford to do would be to issue a bulletin to dealers to check this axle for corrosion thru when they do an oil change or new tires. We are in a high salt winter area. Maybe this is not an issue south. I don't want someone else's family in an accident caused by this axle failure on the interstate or wherever. These tend to be carrying more than one person and often kids. Jim at Dawn |
