Kansas | Why anyone wasted thier money on a windstar to start with is beyond me. Those minivans had the most piss poor safety rating at the time.
But that doesn't fix the current issue.
I vote for the suggestion to getting one out of a scrapyard, fix it, then trade fast if you can.
I wouldn't even begin to weld on it and patch it back up unless you plan on driving it till the day it completely dies or you open yourself up to liability legalities I'm afraid with the next owner if something ever happens and it fails.
I'm also afraid you are more than likely s.o.l. with getting ford to do anything and a class action lawsuit would cost more than the van or your times worth.
But these are merely my opinions. Good Luck with what you decide. Feel very fortunate that your wife was not on the road and had a wreck with it when it happened. She is safe and that is very important. I realize your mad as hell over the incident but don't loose site of what could of happened. Perhaps talking with Ford......that thought should be brought up?
Wasn't to long ago they were rolling explorers with less then recommended tire mfg air pressure.
Then there was the time they thought by cutting holes in the frames of 3/4 ton pickups would lighten them up for fuel mileage.
Ford sure does have a list of not so bright moments. | |
