You could probably get a good axle from a junkyard and put it in for not a lot of money. Then sell it if your wife won't drive it.

I have had similar luck with the couple of Fords I have owned. Yet I know many folks who have had nothing but good luck with their Ford products.

Ford may soon be the only US car company. They must do something right.
