We’re from an area that has a history of root worm and corn borer pressure. Needless to say, avoiding the herculex gene pays well for us.

Dry insecticide is a hazard and a pain in logistics, but pays well. As long as the breeding guys are doing their job and you know how to scout for your pests in your area, you can come out miles ahead.

The breeding guys aren’t selecting very heavily for worm resistance, judging by the pedigrees of the most used inbreds.
