NW Iowa | They are not perfect by any means. They have their gremlins. Not a fan of the cab susp, and the A/C if not working perfect will not freeze you out of the cab. The 500D series does not have the problems with the A/C. But they are rougher riding and you can't get 300hp out of them. Tinting the windows if you live down south will really help. It is a big cab with lots of glass. That being said, where else can you buy a 320-375 hp tractor with 300- 1000hrs for 70 to 100,000. The high speed (34 mph)front susp CVT is the best thing going. Hauling 1350 bu to town 34 mph is getting something done. I row crop with one 645D set at 325 hp by myself on 700 acres. I run trimble auto guide and have had zero problems after replacing the faulty wheel sensor they came out with. I have also seen quite a few of these with 6000-9000hrs on the internet. So somebody is putting hrs on them. I have the service manual and there is very little I can't diagnosis and fix by myself. I have seen faulty software cause a few problems. What hurts Agco more than anything is they don't get the customers gremlins or problems figured out and they trade it. Then the next guy fights it.
I make sure to keep the electronics tight and under the cab clean. I service the whole tractor once a yr or 400 hrs. The cheapest $500 you can spend. If the batteries are getting old and weak just replace them. The newer tractors rely completely on those two batteries. The more particular you can be with the tractor the better it will hold up. If you want to beat on them and not maintain them go buy some of the 80's and 90's tractors and run them .They don't have all the electronics and tight tolerances. But you won't get the acres/hr for the comfort.
That being said, they don't make anything that doesn't break. The old saying if it has t*** and tires it will cause you trouble....
