The Foothills of Mount Trashmore ECIL
That’s an extremely hard question to answer. It is quite competitive around me which is just a little south of your location. Many seem willing to bid up lower producing ground just to say I farm X acres, which is absolutely fine. I’m not willing to take that kind of risk. To be a younger guy who wants to farm you need a land base to come from somewhere. The few young farmers that are around here mostly came into it by the untimely death of their dad’s. Very sad way to get started but that seems to be one of the only ways anymore.
