My wife is from Gramercy La.
The first crab boil I attended was at my BIL's home years ago.
I was standing around the big iron kettle watching them boil and I noticed there were hot dogs floating around in the water.
I speared a dog with a fork and ate it while my BIL stood there watching not saying a thing.......until.... my lips started to burn.....and then he said: "Ya we put the dogs in there to soak up the pepper". (-:
