Subject: RE: Pasture water..am I being unreasonable ?

To make some things clear
1. There are water sources in the pasture,
The pasture has 3 ponds....and have been
The primary and sufficient water sources
For many years.
We have been very dry for the past 4 to 5
Years. Ponds have went dry, along with
Wells, and the water table has dropped.

2. As for paying to improve someone
Ground. The cost to install a well would
Be at or slightly more than 1 years rent.
It basically be no different than paying
Pasture rent when you put cattle in,
Which is what is starting to be done.
I am usually paid just before the
End of the year, so the renters are
Already getting a free months ride.
As I said...the renter gets his money
Back, the amount he pays for the
Well, he takes off the bill 100%, it
Is me that gets no income.
Yet, I still have taxes, spraying, fence
Materials.

I tell the renters that you can see what's
There. It is impossible to guarantee water.
Many pastures in the area use ponds. If
It doesn't rain, that is an act of God, and
I have no control.
I am already lower in rent on this pasture
Than the others....and then ended paying
For the water !
I ended up getting less than $15 an acre,
While there was grass all season, but
The pasture had more cattle than it
Should have.

In this area, it is not uncommon to see
Water trucks around.

And now, I'm supposed to haul the water,
To someone cattle....at the least they
Can haul the water.

So, I provide the pasture, and the water,
You want me to feed them this winter
Chop the ice so they can drink, doctor
Them, pay the banker......and the
Renter shows up one day in the
Year....and that's the day they were
Sold at the sale barn, and he is there
To get HIS check.
