Did you negotiate with the seed dealer, fuel vendor, fertalizer dealer and chemical
supplier before you knocked on the landlords door ?
If not..... Why?

Didn’t you? That would be a normal business practice for most business owners.

The relationship might be different in that one shops for best price from multiple retailers/wholesalers rather than openly negotiate, but it is what any good business person would do?

The seed dealers will work with me.
I have never had any luck whatsoever with fertilizer and chemical and especially fuel vendors.
the response I always get from them is to prepay and take advantage of that discount. Keep in mind I don't farm thousands of acres like a lot of guys do so my demand is not near what others have. Weather they get better deals or not is beyond me.
With fuel, I am told by my supplier that the price is set and everyone gets the same rate.
