N FLA | I bet the cows weigh about 1050 on average. But that is increasing each year due to "rent a cows" that I keep after preg check. I started with poor thing starvation specials and they were smaller framed. I don't have a scale so can just guess based on what I sell.
I have a 24 acre and a 35 acre farms I rent that are in Bahia. One doesn't have any cattle on it now, and the other has fall calving heifers and yearling heifers. I don't give grain to replacement heifers, just Bahia grass and winter annuals. So it takes them a long time to get to full size and they probably mature lighter than grain supplemented cattle. I would think. | |
