 Denmark | According to an interview with an old time mule skinner, who had worked with harvesting in the early 1900´s, he was controlling the lead animal (front left) with 2 reigns.That animal was trained to swing the rest of the team around.
Some skinners used only one reign to controll the lead animal. Steady pull made animal turn in one direction and jerks in the other direction. This sole reign was secured to the animal via a so called G-string.
Which makes that term not quite as new as a guy might think. | |
