You are correct. That was the latest and best modern labour saving device to hit the farm in the later 1950ies.
Before that I remember mother and grandmother, when she lived with us, washing the eggs by hand.
I think it became a more pleasant job when we got a TV in I think 1953 as i remember them sitting in the living room watching Ed Sullivan or an NHL hockey game.

Not sure if they ever broke an egg when someone scored or not but those baskets in that washer saved a lot of time.

Laying hens faded out of our lives in the early to mid 60ies as prices were terrible and larger barns were coming into the business with more equipment.

That also spelled the end of the Tuesday night meet at the General Store when everyone brought there crates of eggs in to be picked up the next morning.
