Subject: RE: Lake Superior

Visit a Minnesota welcome center like at the first rest stop north of the Iowa border on I-35.
Get brochures for Duluth, Grand Marais, Two Harbors and Grand Portage. There are a couple north shore guide books. Its not hard to spend at least a day in Superior and Duluth and more than a day traveling the north shore to Grand Portage. People spend several days along the UP of Michigan and don't get to all of it.

There is a magazine based on the complete loop. I don't have its on line address handy.

One that I do have is called Michigan's Upper Peninsula by the Upper Peninsula Travel & Recreation Association. http://www.UPtravel.com or 800-562-7134.

The Official Visitor Guide Duluth Minnesota 2018 comes from http://visitduluth.com and is at the Minnesota Welcome center. Also 800-438-5884.

A portion of Minnesota 2018 Travel Guide covers the north shore. Available at the welcome centers or from http://exploreminnesota.com or 888-VISITMN.

Then for travel in Ontario there is the North of Superior Four Seasons Adventure Guide, from http://northofsuperior.org or 800-265-3951

Starting at Duluth there is a great railroad museum, a dry docked ore ship, a historical museum, a huge aquarium, several historic mansions. There is a military museum in Superior and another dry docked ship. Also in Duluth near the lift bridge is a large historical museum about lake shipping, and ships do still arrive and require the lift bridge to be lifted several times a day.

There are museums in nearly every town on the north shore along with parks, rivers, bluffs, waterfalls, and beaches.

Long ago my parents took two weeks to do that loop.

At Copper Harbor MI in the UP there is a state park with the remains of a fort. There are ship remains several places along the UP from where they have run aground or sunk in deep water. There are light houses all around the lake. You'll need a passport or passport card to cross the Canadian border each way.
